The Inkfluencer: Advertising & Influencer Alignment Policy
Last Updated: July 22, 2025
The Inkfluencer ("we," "us," or "our") is built on the foundation of authentic, community-driven discovery. This Advertising and Influencer Alignment Policy outlines our commitment to maintaining the trust between our influencers, authors, and readers by ensuring that any paid promotion or advertising on our platform and in our network is transparent, curated, and aligned with our core values.
1. Our Commitment to Authenticity
Our primary goal is to empower creators and readers by fostering genuine connections with books. We believe that paid promotion should enhance discovery, not dilute the trust that makes BookTok and Bookstagram so powerful. This policy serves as our guide to ensuring that all paid opportunities are handled with integrity and transparency.
2. Scope of the Policy
This policy applies to all stakeholders engaged in promotional activities related to The Inkfluencer:
-
Influencers: Who create content for sponsored campaigns.
-
Authors: Who seek to promote their books through paid channels.
-
Publishers & Distributors (B2B Clients): Who purchase marketing services and advertising from our platform.
3. Core Principles of Paid Promotion
All advertising and paid partnerships on The Inkfluencer are governed by these three core principles:
-
Transparency: All paid promotions must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed.
-
Curation: We will only promote or facilitate partnerships for books and content that meet our quality standards and align with our platform's values.
-
Alignment: Paid opportunities must align with the genuine interests and audience of the influencers involved. We do not force recommendations.
4. Influencer Vetting and Alignment
Our influencer-driven model is built on trust, and this extends to paid collaborations.
-
Data-Driven Matching: Our B2B services are designed to match a book with a relevant influencer whose audience, niche, and content history show a high potential for genuine interest.
-
Influencer Autonomy: Even in a paid partnership, the influencer retains the final say. We will not proceed with a campaign if an influencer does not genuinely connect with a book or believe it is a good fit for their community. Payment is for their time and reach, not for a false endorsement.
-
Content Guidelines: We provide influencers with a creative brief that outlines key messages, but we encourage creative freedom to ensure the content feels native and authentic to their style.
5. Types of Paid Opportunities & Disclosure Requirements
The Inkfluencer offers several types of paid opportunities, each with a clear disclosure requirement.
-
"Influencer Spotlight" Campaigns:
-
Description: A publisher or author pays for a book to be featured in a dedicated influencer campaign.
-
Disclosure: The participating influencer must clearly disclose the partnership in their content using the platform's native tools (e.g., TikTok's "Paid Partnership" toggle, Instagram's "Paid partnership with" tag) and/or a clear verbal or on-screen statement (e.g., "This post is in paid partnership with [Publisher Name]").
-
-
"Curated Collection" Sponsorships:
-
Description: A publisher or author pays for a book to be included in a high-visibility, Inkfluencer-branded collection on our platform (e.g., "The Dark Academia Reading List").
-
Disclosure: The collection and its featured books will be clearly marked as "Sponsored" or "Promoted" on The Inkfluencer platform itself.
-
-
"BookTok-to-Screen" Pipeline:
-
Description: A success fee is paid to The Inkfluencer upon the successful facilitation of a film/TV adaptation deal.
-
Disclosure: This is a B2B service and does not require influencer disclosure as it does not involve consumer-facing advertising.
-
6. Consequences of Non-Compliance
A breach of this policy, particularly the failure to disclose a paid partnership, is a serious violation of our community standards and a direct threat to the authenticity of our platform. We reserve the right to take the following actions:
-
Immediate removal of the non-compliant content.
-
Suspension or termination of the influencer's account.
-
Forfeiture of any commissions or fees related to the non-compliant content.
-
Termination of the partnership with the author or B2B client who is in violation.
